Dear Parents/Guardians:

I’m writing to introduce myself as your student’s Spanish teacher. I am excited and very fortunate to be teaching at Barbara Bush Middle School again this year! We’re all looking forward to a great school year.

I completed my teacher certification through the University of Dallas and hold a Master of International Business from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of International Affairs with a minor in Spanish Language and Literature from The George Washington University. I’ve spent extended periods of time in Cuba, Spain, Argentina, and Brazil and have had the privilege of traveling through much of North & South America and Europe. I enjoy bringing all of these great experiences into the classroom!

What I love most about foreign language learning is that it encompasses so many disciplines. Not only a course in language and literature, it’s a lesson in history, geography, art and culture, economics, linguistics, anthropology—a comprehensive course in the human experience! By attempting another language we are striving to understand other cultures and ways of life; and in doing so, we better understand our own place in the world. When we open our minds and hearts to the experiences of other human beings we learn to recognize, appreciate, and respect the value and dignity of all human life.

In addition to this letter I’ve distributed the class syllabus stating the required materials and classroom policies & procedures. I’m in room B206 and can be reached at 972-968-3700 (ext. 3740) or via email at WeingartenS@cfbisd.edu should you wish to contact me.

I look forward to meeting you and teaching your student!

Kind regards,

Sarine Weingarten
