    Arrival & Dismissal
School Hours: 8:10 - 3:10

Arrival:
For their safety, students may not arrive on campus before 7:30 a.m.  Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m.-8:00 a.m. for those students who want to eat breakfast here at school.  Upon arrival, students must go directly to the cafeteria through the gym to eat breakfast.  If a student is a 4th or 5th grader he/she must sit in the cafeteria after eating breakfast until 7:55 until his teacher picks him up.  If a student is a K-3rd grader, he/she must sit in the gym after eating breakfast until his teacher picks up students.

Dismissal:
There are two areas of which you need to be aware.  First, at 3:00 Kindergarteners will be dismissed on the West (back) side of the building and then at 3:05 car riders can be picked up on the West (back) side of the building.  We ask that you form two lines when picking up your children.  There will be no need to get out of your car because the teachers on duty will help put your child in your car.  Second, at 3:10 day care riders will be dismissed from the East (front) of the building through the gym doors.  At 3:10, walkers and bike riders will also be dismissed from the East (front) side of the building.  For safety reasons it is extremely important that students leave the campus immediately.  Please help us insure that your children know this.

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT CAR RIDERS ARE NOT PICKED UP IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING
Day care buses, bike riders and walkers will be in this area.  Any cars in this area will prevent us from implementing our plan effectively and will likely cause safety problems.  Your cooperation is needed.

Changes in How Your Child Gets Home:
Send a note to your child’s teacher regarding how they are to go home.  If there is a change, send a written note notifying the teacher of the change.  If you have any questions, please call the office at 972.968.2100.

Parents in Need of After School Child Care: The "After the Bell" program is an after school program available for students.  Click here for detailed information.

Tardies/Absences

Students are considered tardy if they are not in their classroom by the 8:10 bell.  This includes students eating breakfast in the cafeteria.  (Cafeteria doors are open at 7:30 a.m. to serve breakfast.)  The state requires that students be in attendance 90% of the days required.

Dress Code

Standardized Dress Policy:
Standardized dress at Landry is a requirement mandated by the CFBISD Board of Trustees.
Students are required to wear standardized dress as follows:

  • Bottoms - navy or khaki pants, shorts, skirts and skorts (skirts, shorts and skorts must be no more than 4 inches above the knee)

  • Shirts - navy, red, white, or burgundy polo-type with collar (short or long sleeve)

  • Shoes – Closed-toed shoes or sandals (NO flip-flops)

  • All accessories, socks, belts must follow color code guidelines

  • Students may wear a spirit shirt and jean bottoms ONLY on Fridays

  • No hair cuts with designs

  • No wristbands

  • Earrings must be studs only (no hoops or dangling earrings)

  • No teeth jewelry

Those students not in compliance with the dress code will be sent to the office to either borrow acceptable clothing from the clinic or call home for acceptable clothing to be brought to the school.  IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE HAVE YOUR FULL SUPPORT IN ORDER TO CARRY OUT THIS POLICY.  Students seem to follow the policy well for the first few months of school and then they become lax.

Spirit Wear:
We have Landry Spirit Wear for sale at the school.  You will receive order forms at various times of the year.  If you would like to make a purchase, you may also contact the office at 972.968.2100.  Any Landry spirit wear (including field day shirts) can be worn with jeans on Fridays.

« Wanted « - Outgrown uniforms:
Please donate clean school uniforms your children have outgrown. We will give them to students in need and to those who do not come to school in uniform. There will be a big plastic container in the hall outside the office for you to place shirts, shorts, pants, and skirts.  Clothes Closet information

Visitors/Volunteers

Visitors and volunteers are always welcome to Landry, but everyone MUST report to the office and sign in ANYTIME he/she visits the building.  ALL visitors/volunteers are REQUIRED to wear a visitor’s badge at all times while on campus and are expected to sign in and out.  We appreciate your strict adherence to this policy, so we can offer the utmost of safety for our students and staff.

All volunteers in the classroom or on field trips must first attend a volunteer orientation, complete an application, and agree to a criminal background check.  If you attended the Volunteer Orientation last year, all you have to do this year is fill out another criminal history background check. Stop by the school office to get the form.  New volunteers may check with the school office to find out when the next volunteer orientation is scheduled.

Medications:
Please send all medications in their original containers and clearly mark it with your child’s name.  Please consult your student’s handbook for specific directions.

Appointments:
If at all possible, please schedule doctor appointments for non-emergency care after school hours.  Our time with your child is important.

Immunizations:
Our school nurse wants to remind everyone to make sure your immunizations are up to date and that the school has a copy of your most current shot records.

Also, head lice infestations become most apparent at the beginning of each school year.   If you suspect your child has head lice, please notify the school nurse.

Safety

  DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

ALL students who are picked up by car are dismissed through the doors on the west side (back) of the school.
ALL
students who walk home or to the recreation center are dismissed through the east side doors of the school.
ALL
students who remain in the building after school  (After School program, student club, or other) are escorted by a teacher and attendance is taken.  All of these students are dismissed from the east doors (after school activities) or gym doors (After School program).

WE MUST ENFORCE THESE PROCEDURES.  A student was once hit by a car driven by a parent who picked up her child at the front of the school.  You will notice that the front drive is now blocked to open traffic to help insure this never happens again.

Thank you for your adherence to these important procedures!
