ART ONE INTERMEDIATE

The Art One Intermediate course is a foundation class for the visual arts program. It covers the same curriculum issues as Art 1 but in greater depth and with a higher expectation of excellence. Students will review the elements and principles of art and how to apply them through a series of design projects. They will also demonstrate their knowledge of the elements and principles of art using the media of drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture.

PAINTING II

The Painting Two course is a foundation class for higher level painting classes. Students will be introduced to and paint in Representational, Abstract, and Non-objective styles of painting. They will use tempera, watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint and work on a number of different painting grounds. They will develop an understanding of art history and make informed judgments, both verbal and written, about personal artworks and the artworks of others.

DRAWING II

Drawing II Is the beginning drawing class.  Students will learn contour drawing, gesture drawing, and the use of value.  They will use different media and work from observation as well as from their own imagination.  The intent of this class is to produce a quality of work strong enough to go into a Design or Drawing Portfolio if they elect to go into AP.

2D AP

2D AP is a college level course with options for either drawing or design portfolios. This class should not be taken before the junior year and should be approved by the teacher.
