ART ONE INTERMEDIATE The Art One Intermediate course is a foundation class for the
visual arts program. It covers the same curriculum issues as Art 1 but
in greater depth and with a higher expectation of excellence. Students
will review the elements and principles of art and how to apply them
through a series of design projects. They will also demonstrate their
knowledge of the elements and principles of art using the media of
drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture. PAINTING II The Painting Two course is a foundation class for higher level
painting classes. Students will be introduced to and paint in
Representational, Abstract, and Non-objective styles of painting. They
will use tempera, watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint and work on a
number of different painting grounds. They will develop an
understanding of art history and make informed judgments, both verbal
and written, about personal artworks and the artworks of others. DRAWING II Drawing II Is the beginning drawing class.
Students will learn contour drawing, gesture drawing, and the use of
value. They will use different media and work from observation
as well as from their own imagination. The intent of this class
is to produce a quality of work strong enough to go into a Design or
Drawing Portfolio if they elect to go into AP. 2D AP 2D AP is a college level course with options for
either drawing or design portfolios. This class should not be taken
before the junior year and should be approved by the teacher.
