PHYSICS

SYLLABUS

MRS. E. TEVES

2009-2010

Physics is the study of matter and energy.  Students will conduct laboratory investigations and use scientific methods to make informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving.  In this class, Physics will be studied conceptually, which means concepts are presented in familiar English, with equations as guides to thinking.  Comprehension of the concepts before using calculations is the key to understanding. After the concepts have been thoroughly described, mathematical relationships will be applied.

TIMED TESTS WILL BE GIVEN.  STUDENTS WILL NOT BE GIVEN EXTRA TIME UNLESS REQUIRED BY LAW AND DOCUMENTED IN THE STUDENTS IEP.

CLASSROOM RULES

Rule 1 - Be considerate of others Try your best to be a cooperative student toward your teacher, other students, administrators and all visitors.  Be pleasant even when there is a conflict.  Try to work out a solution but feel free to ask the teacher to help resolve difficult issues. Students who show disrespect, poor manners or a belligerent attitude will be removed from class.

Rule 2 - Be Prepared - Arrive on time will all supplies and sit in the seat assigned to you.  Time wasted at the beginning of class will decrease the time spent learning.

Rule 3 Be safe at all times - Conduct yourself in a calm manner and be aware of your surroundings.  Rough play, running, throwing objects can cause serious accidents.

Rule 4 -- Complete all assignments to the best of your abilities.  Your education depends on you being involved in the thinking, planning and doing of class activities.  Keep your mind engaged!  Focus on the learning goals, take good notes and review them.  Dont try to take shortcuts and cram later.  You will be shortchanging yourself and will limit your options for a terrific future.
