COURSE INFORMATION

Theater

Students will be expected to participate in all class activities-acting as well as critiquing of performances.  Actors will read plays and write an analysis which may be presented to the class.  Students will work alone and in groups to memorize and present dramatic performances and oral interpretations.   Students will learn to use their bodies and voices to create a variety of characters.  Actors will study the history of theater and its place in world events.  Actors will have an opportunity to perform in all school theatrical performances.  Students are expected to attend local school and professional performances and write critiques of the events.

Tech Theater

Students will be expected to participate in all class activities and will learn to critique fellow students' work.  Techies will read plays and write an analysis which may be presented to the class.  They will use vocabulary and production skills to emphasize theater elements in sets, lighting and costuming. Students will study the history of theater and its place in American society and in world events.  Techies are expected  to participate in school programs and theatrical performances.  Students are encouraged to attend local school and professional performances and write critiques of the events.

 

Communication Application

 

Students will learn about all the many facets that "communication" implies.  Students will read and learn how communication in relationships and business differ and are similar. Students will be expected to research topics and present speeches to the class.  They will learn to give feedback to fellow students' work.  Students will learn how a firm handshake, looking a person in the eye and clear, precise speech will enhance their ability to communicate in all walks of life.
