Español I:  First three weeks
These tasks are your assignments for the first 2+ weeks.  You may attempt each one as many times as necessary (first in class, then in tutorials), but you will not get a grade until you complete the task correctly.  Your daily grade (=40% of your grade) will be the percentage of tasks that you complete before the test.  (The deadline for all tasks is 3:00 the afternoon before the test.) 

 

Keep this sheet in your binder at all times.  Bring it to class every day.  Do not lose it.

1 Binder and supplies:  due August 22.  Syllabus is in the binder, and signed parent letter has been handed in.
2 Make a name card as instructed.  Write your name on both sides large enough to be seen across the room.

4 Online videos:  Chapter 1, Videos: Cultura:  Saludos informales;  Saludos formales. 
 

Read and watch the cultura sections and be prepared for a quiz.  Date:  _____This daily task will not be repeated.  Be prepared on the assigned day.

13 Greetings:  make a flash card (ficha) for each expression:  Buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches.  Draw symbols on one side and write the Spanish on the other side.  (No English.) The teacher will check spelling and you will say the correct greeting.  (pág. 8)
14 Make /say fichas for 5 says to say good-bye.  (pág. 8)

  Oral Test 1:
 

·         The teacher will choose partners on all oral tests.  Very, very rarely will you choose your own partner.  Be prepared always for the teacher to choose.

 

·         If you have completed ALL the daily tasks that lead up to an oral test, and if you are not pleased with your test grade, you may take it that afternoon after school.  (Note:  you must attempt the test when it is due.) 

  In groups of two:  You run into a student from NSHS.  You greet each other (using appropriate gestures), and each asks the other’s name and answers.  You each introduce a friend (the teacher will tell you who the friend is) or an adult (teacher will decide) to your partner, and you react properly.  You each ask what an adult’s name is, and where he is from, and the other answers.  Then you say that you have to go, good-bye.  (Each partner will use a different good-bye expression.)  
   
  Oral Test 2:
 

In groups of two:  You run into a student from NSHS.  You greet each other (using appropriate gestures), and each asks the other’s name and answers.  You each introduce a friend (the teacher will tell you who the friend is) or an adult (teacher will decide) to your partner, and you react properly.  You each ask what an adult’s name is, and where he is from, and the other answers. 

Ask and answer the following information:

How do you spell your last name?

How old are you?

 Then you say that you have to go, good-bye.  (Each partner will use a different good-bye expression.)
