Gallery in Motion is the Newman Smith High Schools advance performing company.  Students are selected through a rigorous audition process each spring.

Gallery in Motion was formed in 1995 as a performing modern dance company for the Newman Smith High School Dance Department currently under the artistic direction of Tamara Coalson and Dawn Valentine.  The company has performed throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area at Brookhaven Community College, Collin County Community College, University of Texas at Dallas, Dance for the Planet, Imagination Celebration, T.A.H.P.E.R.D. and the Texas Coalition   for the Quality of Arts Education in Austin, Texas.

Gallery in Motion has also been selected to perform in the showcase concert at the 5th National High School Dance Festival held in Long Beach, California, the 6th National High School Dance Festival held in Miami, Florida, and the 7th National High School Dance Festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  In June of 2006 Gallery in Motion was invited to perform and present at the Texas Education Agency Fine Arts Summit in Austin, Texas. 

Auditions for Gallery in Motion 2010-2011 will be held on May 13, 2010 from 4:30pm-7:00pm in the Pauline Keeton Smith Performing Arts Center.
