CLANCYWORKS DANCE COMPANY

Founder/Artistic Director ~ Adrienne Clancy has toured nationally and internationally as a member of the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company.  She has been the Rehearsal Director, Company Member, and Project Director for numerous community arts projects for the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange.  Ms. Clancy has performed as principal company member for Nora Reynolds Dance and a Guest Artist for: Victoria Marks; Bill Evans; Maida Withers. For the past fifteen years Adrienne has been an active choreographer.  Highlights of her choreographic career include having her work presented in Paraguay, Poland, Israel, Japan, Mexico and also on a national level.  Adrienne earned a masters Degree in Dance with an emphasis in Dance History & Criticism from the University of New Mexico and a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Adrienne is a member of the executive committee of Alternate ROOTS. Clancy has  served on the faculty of the University of Maryland Baltimore County (MD), George Mason University (VA), George Washington University (DC), and Goucher College (MD).

Clancy Works Dance Company is a collective of performing artists and educators led by Artistic Director, Adrienne Clancy.  Specific to Clancy's creative process is an exploration of architecturally informed partnering work that is developed with a group of diverse dancers.  Her company's approach to partnering is simultaneously dynamic and sensitive; highly physical yet  at the same time extremely human.  Centrally incorporated in performances and residency workshops conducted by Clancyworks company members is the dynamic use of partnering in order to exemplify an environment of mutual respect and to create empowering images that embrace diversity and actively advance positive social action.
