About the Newman Smith Yearbook
We’re celebrating our 30th Anniversary this year!
The 2005 Iliad will contain approximately 300 pages
– A minimum of 16 in full color. Yearbook coverage will
include student life inside and outside of school, school
events, school-sponsored clubs and other organizations,
academic activities and school athletics. Coverage spans
late summer through February. Special care is taken to
include coverage of all grade levels. A special section
will contain group pictures of all school clubs and teams
along with senior personal advertising.

Please submit any photos that you think would add do the 2005 Iliad. We welcome student and parents’ contributions, although, we may not be able to include what you contribute. Digital images and copies of photographs are acceptable. Submissions will be returned if you include a self addressed, stamped envelope or a return e-mail address. Senior Portrait Photographers Class 2005

For continuity, all senior
portraits are posed at Jostens Portrait Studio in Plano. Photos should be
taken by September 27, 2004. You should have received information about senior yearbook portraits directly from Jostens during the summer. If you did not, call Jostens Portrait Studio at (972) 758-4423 as soon as possible to schedule a free studio sitting. The deadline for scheduling a sitting is September 27. Jostens Portrait Studio is located at 1101 Ohio Drive, Suite 108, in Plano – only 10 minutes from NS.

Senior Activities & Quotations
Seniors are invited to submit a list of their high school
activities and accomplishments, along with a favorite
quotation, for printing with their portrait in the
yearbook. Senior Activity Forms are available from SE140
or the Main Office, and be sure to observe the Nov. 12, 2004 deadline.
You may also e-mail your senior activities/
senior quotation information to crenshawa@cfbisd.edu.

Senior Quotation
You may include a favorite quotation with your picture
in the yearbook. You are responsible for the accuracy of
the quotation. You must also provide the source of the
quotation (author, book, film, etc.). “Anonymous” and
“unknown” are not acceptable for attribution. You may
not quote family members, teachers, fellow students or
yourself. The yearbook staff reserves the right to omit
without warning quotations that it deems inappropriate
for our year book.

Verify, Verify, Verify
Verify, Verify, Verify
We will post verification lists for the following on the NS
website and outside the Journalism Lab (SE140):
• Yearbook orders received (posted monthly)
• Yearbook portraits received (posted in December)
• Name spelling verification (posted in January)
We will also attempt to make these verification lists
available through the PTA newsletter or e-letter. Please
check them periodically and carefully.
Senior Tribute Advertising
Seniors and their parents may purchase specially-
priced advertising space in the back of the yearbook for
messages to loved ones and friends. An information flyer
and order form will be mailed to parents of seniors in
the PTA Newsletter, or you may pick one up in the Main Office.
Business Advertising
The Iliad also accepts commercial advertising to
help underwrite printing costs and keep the price of the
yearbook as low as possible for students. If you would
like to support the yearbook by advertising your business,
please contact us for information.
