On Friday, January 19, the Leadership Academy teamed with the Lego League to go on its second field trip—a visit to the NanoTech Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas.  Their visit was coordinated by Mr. Winston Layne.  Ms. Barbara Boyd coordinated a tour of the campus.

In November, the Leadership Academy hosted its first community service project,
“Giving Thanks,” just in time for Thanksgiving.

This school-wide canned goods collection made over 700 cans of non-perishable food items available for needy families in the Sheffield community.

As its second community service project, the Leadership Academy hosted “Mad for Magazines,”
a community-wide magazine drive.

On Saturday, February 10, the Leadership Academy visited
Trinity Medical Center in Carrollton

thanks to the support of Ms. Susan Watson, Chief Development Officer and Physician Relations.

As its third community service project, the Leadership Academy hosted “Bucks for Books: A Walk for the Cause,” a prize walk to raise money to purchase picture books for the patients at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.  Co-sponsored by our local Wal-mart Supercenter and, supported by its manager Mr. Bret Patterson,  the prize walk was a huge success! Over 200 students participated!
