Friday, September 14th - Our first 2007-2008 meeting! We kicked off with Ms. Suzanne Short author of Wisdom Daddy Taught Me.

Mr. Guillot finished our meeting by focusing our our Theme this year: Building Character..Building Me! The Six Pillars of Character which we will be working on this year are: Citizenship, concern for others, fairness in all things, respect for others, responsibility, and trustworthiness.
Our second group meeting on October 4th our guest speaker was Mr. Bob Hopkins, founder and publisher of Philanthropy World. Mr. Hopkins restated to the leadership academy the importance of "concern for others", which is one of our pillars of leadership.

Our third meeting our guest speaker was Cheryl Jackson. Everyone refers to her as "Action Jackson". Ms. Jackson is the founder of The Giving Moment, as well as CEO of CAJ Profesional Service and Sisters of Savings. She also helped develop and launch Emmitt Smith Communications. She talked to the students about the importance of giving what you can. She stressed that it was important to believe in yourself, no matter who tells you otherwise. If you think you can.....YOU CAN!

In December, Mr. Robert Stollon a former teacher and Navy Instructor came and spoke to us in December. According to Mr. Stollon, "Being a good character means having good character...each of us simply needs Positive Mental Attitude."

In January we were visited by Sylvia Sotelo Kidd a professional realtor with Ebby Halliday. According to Mrs. Kidd, "Leaders are judged by their actions, and one's actions determine one's reputation."

In February, the Leadership Academy welcomed Mrs. Beverley Wright. According to Mrs. Wright, "Character is a set of features and traits which lead to the desired reputation"

In April, the Leadership Academy welcomed Mr. Lupe Gonzales. He promoted a new program that is called C.P.R. anytime. He stated that "No one is too young to save a life." Students got to be taught C.P.R. emergency procedures.
