| The Book It! National Reading Incentive Program motivates children to read by rewarding them for their reading accomplishments. Teachers set monthly reading goals, and students who meet these goals receive a pizza award certificate redeemable at participating Pizza Hut restaurants. The program begins October 1, 2001 and ends March 29, 2002. | |
| The Texas Bluebonnet Award reading
program was established in 1979 to encourage Texas children to read more
books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination,
and identify their favorite books. Students entering the reading program
must each read a minimum of five books from the current master list before
they can vote for their favorite title. Teachers and parents are urged
to build interest by reading some of the books aloud. The author of the
book receiving the most votes statewide is declared the winner of the Texas
Bluebonnet Award and is honored at the TLA annual conference. Students
are eligible to vote if
