Panther News Network
or
PNN
Polk Network News was started over five years ago as a volunteer broadcasting program. During the first year every broadcast was made live, so mistakes and mishaps were frequent and surprising to everyone watching. It wasn't long into the second year that it was decided that we needed to record the episode to be broadcast later, though this was still on a volunteer basis. The 2007-08 school year brought the newest change to the program, in that it was set during 7th period class in the Tech Ed classroom and lab.
We are still making changes, adding something new and coming up with new ideas, all of which has made for interesting events for PNN this year. There's still a lot to be done, though looking at the episodes now, you can definitely see improvements over the years. The students this year have even developed a list of station responsibilities, which is a list of requirements for each position in the broadcast team. They have also developed a list of hand signals that we use during the recording, so that they can communicate with one another without verbally talking.
What's in store for PNN next year? Tune in and see.
