Overview by the Technology Exploration Questions
Why Technology Education? Charles M. Blalack Middle School students enroll in the Technology Exploration elective for different reasons. All want to confirm, practice, enable and encourage their mastery of Science, Math, Social Studies, Language and the Arts. Auditory learning students are able to practice and confirm their mastery of the core subjects. Visual learning students are able to practice and enable their mastery while Kinesthetic learners are enabled and encouraged by "hands on" work
What is Technology and Technology Exploration? - Communication, Construction, Manufacturing, Energy, Power and Transportation comprise the systems field of Technology today. New Technology systems are the result of Scientific Exploration, Engineering Design, Testing and Development. Technology Exploration studies each of the systems as well as the scientific and engineering methods that discover them. Careers in science, engineering and technology are investigated.
How is Technology Taught? At Blalack Middle School Technology Exploration is taught in the Tech Lab at project work stations and in whole class settings . The technology work station projects are designed for two students to learn cooperatively. They are guided and motivated with compelling student activities, recognized achievement and scheduled progress. There are 12 technology projects for seventh and eighth grade students to accomplish.
So, What if? or what are the expectations for:
The Teacher - Curriculum will be creditable, prescribed and consistent. Instruction will be well planned, prepared for and delivered. Evaluations and Assessment will be scheduled and conceived for motivating and encouraging the students.
The Student Work - Students will be expected to produce daily and weekly activity results. In addition each student will learn individually and develop their ability to work collaboratively.
Student behavior - Good student behavior and progress is always important. In the Technology lab, project work environment is open and behavior impacts more students. This is because the distraction of misbehavior and the effect on time scheduled activities can aggravate the progress of the entire class. Therefore, each student will be expected to behave, work and perform at high levels with an accommodating environment.
