THE AMATEUR NATURALIST SUMMER PROGRAM

 Get Down With Nature

"The Amateur Naturalist" is an exciting outdoor program for Carrollton-Farmers Branch elementary students!

The camp will provide quality scientific outdoor experiences such as wildlife sampling, ecology games, population studies, science experiments, nature art, journals and record keeping, collections, and scavenger hunts!  All activities will help the student develop an understanding of basic environmental concepts as well as an appreciation of the natural world.  The program gives students opportunities for personal achievement and self-expression with nature-related activities in the wild.
Designed for students who are Entering grades 3,4,5 or 6.

Here are some of the activities students will participate in:
Pond Sampling with Nets Bird Identification Studies on Erosion
Nature Jeopardy Building Bird Feeders Wildlife Sampling
Animal Track Casting Nature Scavenger Hunts Making Sound Maps
Plant Collections Launching Solar Bags Nature Crafts
Nature Walks Insect Studies Designing & Building-Nature Trail Signs
Constructing Rubber band Rockets Animal Identification Parent Night Picnic

Registration:  On site registration: Blalack Middle School (during School hours 8:00a.m - 4:00 pm.)

 1706 Peters Colony, Carrollton, TX  75007

 ($150 cash/checks/money orders.)                       Spaces still available.

LOCATION:  Outdoor Learning Center  (1600 E. Sandy Lake Road, Coppell, TX) 

Dates & Time of Session:
June 16 - July 11, 8:50 a.m. - 12:50 a.m.

Cost: $ 150 per student.

Transportation:    Bus transportation will be provided from home schools to Kent Elementary School and then from Kent Elementary School to the Outdoor Learning Center.
   *  Specific pick-up times will be provided at registration or posted on the summer school web site before June 16.
