Welcome to Language Arts! Here are a few things you should know about your student's Language Arts class: What we are doing now: We are practicing for the Reading TAKS test, which is coming up quickly on March 5, 2008. We are dividing our practice into four sections; each section focused around each objective. STUDENTS MUST PASS THE 8TH GRADE READING TAKS TEST THIS YEAR TO BE PROMOTED ON TO THE 9TH GRADE!!!!! After TAKS: After the TAKS test, we will begin reading a new novel, Swallowing Stones. Reading Logs: Due on Mondays. Students should always be reading. They are required to complete a weekly reading log based on an article they are given in class on Mondays.  The goal is to make sure that they are not only reading outside of class, but that they are also thinking and reflecting on what they read, while practicing crucial TAKS skills. Reading logs are a weekly, homework grade, due on the following Monday.
