First and foremost, let me say, that I treat my students like I want my children to be treated.  I have high expectations, along with loads of compassion and caring, mutual respect, and discipline.

A little about myself:  This is my 12th year in education.  In 1993, I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Special Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.  Later in 1999,  I received my Master's degree from Texas A & M University at Commerce in Counseling.  I teach Language Arts and Social Studies at Perry.  I am certified to teach Gifted and Talented, ESL, as well as a certified school counselor with 4 years experience at the elementary level.  My goal is to make a difference in the life of a child and allow kids to enjoy learning.  I want to be the one teacher that fosters a love of learning in a child but at the same time earns their respect and discipline.

My passion in life lies with my work and my two daughters, Morgan 14 and Katie 6.  My favorite hobby is basketball (which I have played since the 3rd grade) and spending time with my family and friends.  I love the outdoors, the lake, the beach, and the mountains.  I also love, love, love music. I can't sing or play an instrument but I so enjoy music.  I also like playing all kinds of sports and trying new ones.  When I'm not exhausted from teaching, I like walking, hiking, biking, camping and traveling to new places.  I am so excited to be working at DeWitt Perry Middle School. The parents, students and staff are terrific!

Mrs. Roberson's Teaching Schedule

My emphasis throughout the year is on basic understanding of reading (recognize words and their meanings while reading, learn the meanings of new words that you come across while reading, learn parts of words and how they are used to help with meaning, find the main idea of a paragraph, article, or story, find the supporting details, paraphrase and summarize what you have read).  Also I want students to learn and use the writing process. I teach social studies as well and follow the student's individual programs following the curriculum online as closely as possible.
