2009 Summer Reading Celebrations
August 2009-Four R.L. Turner students were awarded a $1,000.00 grant for their Issues to Action presentation from the Hispanic College Fund in partnership with Youth Venture. The students created a proposal to decrease the drop-out rate amongst all students at R. L. Turner High School and presented to a panel of judges at the Hispanic Youth Leadership Conference this summer at SMU. The judges were impressed by their passion for the issue at hand, as well as their practical and well-presented plan. We will be working with these four young women to put their plan into action at R. L.Turner!
