A reflection from a parent...
"The Green Team is a volunteer event sponsored by ExxonMobil & organized through the Volunteer Center of North Texas & SMU. The Green Team received more than 300 applications for interns, but only accepted 51 students. For eight weeks the interns worked with various local service organizations They worked Monday through Friday & attended classes at SMU every Wednesday.

There were students from the most prestigious schools in the Metroplex, including Cody Holmes from R. L. Turner High School, METSA Academy senior. Being a part of the Green Team was a tremendous experience for Cody, but it's also a testament to our school. We have so many amazing students, teachers & administrators at RLT."

Today, the TEA released preliminary accountability ratings. Congratulations to the students and staff of R.L. Turner on the 2010 Recognized Rating! We are very proud of the hard work of our students and teachers!

School Choice:

The No Child Left Behind gives parents more options by giving parents of children enrolled at Title I campuses that are in stage 1 or higher of "School Improvement" the choice to transfer to a school within thirty days of receiving notification of the improvement status that is NOT in a "School Improvement" stage, within Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District.  C-FB ISD will pay for transportation to the new school. Students will be allowed to remain at the new campus, until the student reaches the highest grade at that campus. The district will continue to pay for transportation if the student's home campus is still in a "School Improvement" stage.  Students can transfer to:

Creekview,
Newman Smith,
Ranchview
Creekview, Newman Smith and Ranchview are Academically Acceptable, Meet AYP.

To request a transfer, for additional academic information on campuses available for transfer, or for more information on this school choice option, please contact Georgeanne Warnock at 972-968-5420.
