Day 1 - Tuesday - 9.4.07
  • Create a Circle Map brainstorming what the elderly have to offer
  • Read Wise Old Woman
  • Read P. 2-3 of Weekly Reader
  • Make your spelling list for the week
  • All spelling homework is due Friday - 10 sentences and 10 pictures
 
Day 2 - Wednesday - 9.5.07
  • Identify the Problem and Solution in Wise Old Woman - 10 points
  • Read P. 29 with fluency and expression.  How might the warriors sound different than the young lord?
  • Watch School House Rock's "A Noun is a Person, Place, or Thing" and "Verb: That's What's Happening"
  • Complete Sentence Building 1-2 (articles and verbs).
  • Read P. 4-5 of Weekly Reader
 
Day 3 - Thursday - 9.6.07
  • Sing the Main Idea song
  • List the 5 W's of Miss Rumphius and then write a 7-10 word gist - 10 points
  • Watch School House Rock's "Unpack Your Adjectives"
  • Complete Sentence Building 3-4 (articles, adjectives, and verbs). 
  • Complete Practice 5 (Problem / Solution) - 20 points
  • Read P. 6-7 of Weekly Reader
 
Day 4 - Friday - 9.7.07
  • List the 5 W's and write a 7-10 word gist for Wise Old Woman - 20 points
  • Pick a character from the story and create a bubble map using at least 3 character traits from the IB learner profile.  Underneath each trait write a sentence explaining why you picked that trait - 20 points
  • Complete Sentence Building 1-4 Review (articles, adjectives, and verbs).  Please write sentences about Wise Old Woman - 10 points
  • Answer questions on back of Weekly Reader - 10 points
