5.12B - Use experimental results to make predictions

The Texas Education Agency states:
Students will be asked to use an experimental probability to predict the number of times a given outcome will occur in a given total number of outcomes.

Lessons:
Day 1
Students will use experimental results to make predictions.

Notes - Use Experimental Results to Make Predictions

Day 2
Student will pull chips out of a bag and record the results using a line plot.  The students will then write the data as a fraction.

Day 3
Students will use the data collected in their probability experiment and create a graph in excel.

Day 4
Students will use the data collected in the previous experiment to predict how many of each color chip are in the bag.

Day 5
Students will look at all the data collected and make predictions about the contents of their bag.  Students will write a paper about what they learned in their probability experiment.  Students will be given a rubric for their probability paper.
