Ranchview High School has partnered with Northlake Community College to offer classes that High School students can get both high school and college credit for. These classes can be taken either after school or during the summer on the Northlake College campus. US Government (1 semester) and Economics (1 semester) courses are currently offered on the Ranchview campus for seniors.

Here is some information from the Northlake website that will help you get started.

Getting Started in Dual Credit at North Lake College
In order to participate in dual credit courses, students must be high school juniors or seniors, be recommended by their high school principal or counselor, have the permission of their parents, and meet the course prerequisites.  Students need to review the eligibility requirements for the programs with your school counselor.  Your counselor will let you know which courses are designated as dual credit through your school.

Next:

  1. Complete the DCCCD Application for Admission (PDF file)
  2. Complete the High School Student Enrollment Form (PDF File)
  3. Obtain an official high school transcript.
  4. Complete Minor Student Form (PDF file)
  5. Submit the application, transcript and any other required documents to the Dual Credit office (A428).
  6. Take and pass the required tests.

On the High School Student Enrollment Form, students MUST obtain signatures of the high school counselor and a parent.  Students 18 years or older will need the parent’s signature.
