Forms of Energy

 
Day 1  Students will read about Light and Mirrors in their science textbooks pages 232-245..  Students will complete a study guide and write the vocabulary words from the reading in their science notebooks.

Day 2 Students will read about Light and Lenses in their science textbooks pages 248-259..  Students will complete a study guide and write the vocabulary words from the reading in their science notebooks.

Day 3  Students will view a powerpoint about reflection and refraction.  During the powerpoint students will answer questions from the information in the powerpoint.  Student will use CPS to answer TAKS related questions on Reflection/Refraction.  Students will complete TAKS related questions independently.

Day 4 Students will learn about electricity in a lesson titled " How to Light Up Your Life"  Students will search for circuits in the activity called Scouting for Circuits.  Students will use a lab report created by teacher to complete the activity.

Day 5 Students will learn about electricity in a lesson titled " How to Light Up Your Life"  Students will watch for circuits in the activity called Watching Series Circuits.  Students will use a lab report created by teacher to complete the activity.

Day 6  Students will read about Sound and Hearing in their science textbooks pages 194-203.  Students will complete a study guide and write the vocabulary words from the reading in their science notebooks.

Day 7  Students will read about High and Low, Loud and Soft in their science textbooks pages 206-215.  Students will complete a study guide and write the vocabulary words from the reading in their science notebooks.

Day 8 Students will view several power points about forms of energy.  During the power point students will take notes answer questions from the information in the power points.  Student will use CPS to answer TAKS related questions on Electricity.  Students will complete TAKS related questions independently.

Day 9 Begin lab on Exploring Hum Dingers, students will create hum dingers in groups. Demonstration of hum dingers from each group. Discuss and write vocabulary for Hum Dinger Experiment in science spirals.  Read Foss stories,  "Simulations"  and "Path to Invention" and discuss.  Reveal to the students the hum dinger that I made following the construction sheet.  Have students replicate the hum dinger following the same instructions from the Foss kit.  Read Foss stories,  "Simulations"  and "Path to Invention" and discuss.

Day 10 Students will review the five forms of energy SHELS (Solar, Heat, Electrical, Light, and Sound)  Students will take notes about each the forms of energy and they will create a poster of the forms of energy.
