General Information
Rainwater Elementary currently serves 450 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The staff includes a full-time counselor, behavior specialist, librarian, physical education teacher, music teacher, art teacher, and many part-time support teachers.
The school day is from 7:50 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. for students in Kindergarten through fifth grades.
The students selected the school colors - purple, teal and indigo blue. They also selected the school mascot - "Hurricanes". Students described the mascot as representing "a strong force with a calm center".
Students are the center of Rainwater's program. Problem solving and decision making is a strong focus at Rainwater. Students at Rainwater enjoy a variety of enrichment programs after school, including choir, student council, art, and physical education classes. After school tutoring is also provided for students who need special help. Rainwater provides a program of rigorous basic skills, thinking skills, problem solving and enrichment opportunities. Character values are emphasized at all levels and students are encouraged to develop personal goals for improvement. Due to the excellent staff and responsive students, Rainwater is a Texas Exemplary School!
