As a child my father worked for an oil company. We moved a lot. I did not start and end the same school until I was in 8th grade. Some of my schools did the red bird, blue bird, ... method and some used various other methods. I was always a strong reader, but my writing was not up to par. In third grade, I had the most awesome teacher, We all knew how wonderful and special we were. We moved. My next used ABC to label her groups - she wasn't even creative enough to mix the letters. I was in the "A" group for reading and when that was over we moved right into writing. I was the only student who had to get up and move to the "C" group. What a humiliating experience. But what a lesson I learned.
