Carol - I take a lot of notes as I observe and work with students. I try to pull groups according to needs. (EX: spacing between words when writing, ending sounds, addition/subtraction . . .) My groups are always changing! I try to mix up my reading groups too. If I have several kids reading at the same level I will mix up that group so they aren't always together. I have everyone read their book to a friend after reading to me. It doesn't matter if their book has 3 words per page or 50 words per page. All kids feel sucessful because they are reading!
