I was caught by your comment about how this was like teaching Special Ed kids. In Irving, they do GT different. At several schools, they have self-contained GT classrooms. The kids start in 3rd grade. My niece benefited from this program. There was a lot of controversy when the district decided to do this. She thrived in these classes.
