WOW! They sure hit the nail on the head. I have trouble doing my best in the classroom when I am stressed let alone distressed. So I can understand that it would be impossible for a child to learn if they were distressed. I think that it is very important for children to know that their school and classroom are safe for them. They need to not only know they are in a physically safe environment but to know that they can feel confident in what they do, have consistency and fairness in their day to day routines, and to know what their boudaries are. Those boudaries give them a sense of security to know that we care.
