I have had friends that have taught in mixed grade pods. Most have said it was very difficult. They felt as if they were on their own because everyone in the pod was focused on their grade level. I think some of the opportunities we offer such as, chess club, choir, art club, and student council help bridge those gaps. Many years ago (Carol, you will remember) we would have ACE days that all ACE students were mixed K - 6th to work together on projects. The kids loved it. I think we are so consumed with benchmarks and testing that we don't take the time to work with our GT kids.
