I try very hard to group my kids in many different ways. Ability ranges in Kindergarten are very wide! Sometimes I group by ability, sometimes by personality, sometimes by role models, and sometimes a very mixed group. Children learn at a very young age that some groups are "better" than others and they don't understand why they can't be in that group. By constantly changing groups they all assume they are the best!
