I was drawn to the statement that studies show that by allowing some students to do a lot independent work while we give extra attention to other students may send the wrong message to the student doing the independent work. We may think the message is "you are so smart, you should be proud." In actuality, the unintended message may be "I don't care about you as much as other students". Just what I needed....another guilt trip. Anyone have any thoughts about this?
