I totally agree that we should give more than just a glimmer of our lives to our students, and we don't do it often enough. If we make a habit of bringing personal examples into our lessons on a regular basis, then students come to know us as a person. "I enjoy reading this book because I used to read it to my son before his bedtime when he was little." "I went to the store to buy a game for my Xbox, but I discovered I didn't have enough cash." These little statements when used enough soon tell students a lot about us!
