In reference to the culture and sub-culture discusssion on p 22: Many schools' cultures are TAKS excellenc and academic success. The sub-cultures seem to support that with stable population, excellent teachers, and high parent participation. Do sub-cultures determine what the culture of a school will be, or is it the other way around? For instance, what if a school that has had a culture of high academic success and sub cultures of stable population and high parent involvement, etc. suddenly finds itself with an influx of sub-cultures of high mobility and little parent involvement. Will this mean that the schools' culture will change? If so how, and how will the school continue its academic success when the supporting sub-culture diminishes?
