MEET MR. PRUITT

My name is Matthew Christopher Pruitt. This is my second year at Donald H. Sheffield Intermediate School.

I was born and raised in Grambling, Louisiana, a small rural community, located in Northern Louisiana, off Interstate 20. I have two outstanding parents, three wonderful sisters, and a supportive brother.

I have worked with children for the past 5 years. A teacher is a professional learner and that appeals to me. In the educational setting, the methods in which you perform your job are always changing. A dynamic teacher is never done learning, is always adapting his methodology, and using his imagination constantly. Unconsciously, children “look up” to teachers as their mentors and heroes and believe them, to be an example of how they should behave. As role models, teachers encourage and motivate children in an effort to prevent them from making life altering decisions. The background of a child; race, gender, or socioeconomic status should not interfere with a teacher’s openness to every child, thus giving each child an opportunity for future success. To teach a child is a gift of a lifetime that other careers do not offer.
