This is a Pre-AP course and all activities will concentrate on student
learning and achievement. High expectations have been established for students
to demonstrate mastery of the rigorous academic material. World Geography Syllabus
Purpose of Course: To study the constantly changing world in which we live from the unique perspective of geography.
Expectations:
1. Be in class on time with textbook and supplies.
2. Show respect to others in the class and to the classroom environment.
3. Turn in work on time. If you are absent, assignments are due according to the Student Handbook.
4. Follow all rules as described in the Student Handbook.

Supplies Needed Everyday:
1. 3 ring binder – one and half to two inch rings
2. pen – blue or black
Grading Policy:
60% of your grade will be based on summative activities, which will include tests and projects. 40% of your grade will be based on formative activities, such as, class work, quizzes, class participation, and homework.
Make-up Work:
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed on the first day you are back in school. You must turn in assignments within the allotted time period as described in the Student Handbook. If you miss a test or quiz, you must schedule an appointment to make up the assessment. Summative assignments given a due date must be turned in on that date to avoid assessment of a late penalty.
Semester Exam: The semester exam will count as 20% of the semester grade.
Tardies: Students are tardy if they are not seated when the last bell sounds. See the Student Handbook for methods used to enforce the tardy policy.
Homework: You are expected to complete assignments not finished in class. To successfully manage the amount of rigorous academic material, homework also involves daily review of the geographic concepts and material covered in class.
Late Work: No late work will be accepted.
Tutorials: I will be available before and after school.
