| Note
from The Principal:
I
want to welcome everybody to a new school year that
will be full of new and exciting learning opportunities.
The following are some suggestions to help you and
your child have a successful first day of school.
* Before school starts, talk to your child about
all the fun things he/she will learn at school.
* Reassure your child that they will be at school
for a short time and that you or someone familiar
will be waiting to pick him/her up.
* Tell your child about all the new friends that
he/she will have.
* Come to Meet the Teacher Night so the student
meets the teacher and can see his/her classroom.
* Parents will be allowed to walk students to class
only the first two days of school (due to safety
and separation issues)
* If you are nervous or have difficulty separating
from your child, your child will know and will be
reluctant to leave you. Please give them a hug and
a kiss and leave them with the teacher.
* Do not linger or wait outside the classroom. The
separation is made more difficult when they keep
seeing you just outside the classroom. Their anxiety
will escalate and so will their efforts to get to
you.
* Remember that the teacher will not be able to
spend time with you because she needs to be focused
on the students.
* Staff will be there to help children who are crying
or do not want to leave a parent.
* We can assure you that your children will be fine.
Some children take a little longer to adjust but
usually children will follow the routine by the
third day of school.
Our
staff is dedicated to meeting the affective and
intellectual needs of our students. Thank you for
helping us make this a great year!
