COURSE
DESCRIPTION

Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to strengthen individual performance in the workplace and in society and to make successful transition to the workforce and/or post-secondary education.  Students apply technical skills to address business applications of emerging technologies.

OBJECTIVES 1.  Students develop research, listening, interpretation, and organization skills.
  2.  Students select appropriate technology to address business needs.
  3.  Students apply word processing technology.
  4.  Students develop communication skills necessary to a changing business environment.
 

5.  Students produce business documents (e.g., business letters, memos, short reports, 
     newsletters, employment portfolio, multi-media presentation) using current and emerging
    
technologies.

  6.  Students apply spreadsheet technologies.
  7.  Students apply database technologies.
  8.  Students exchange information via telecommunications technologies with proper
      supervision.
  9.  Students apply desktop publishing technology.
  10. Students apply presentation management technology.
  11. Students identify the concepts of a computer network.
  12. Students analyze computer operating systems and ethics.

CLASSROOM
PROCEDURES
1.   Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to work when the tardy bell sounds.   Tardies will be handled according to school policy.
  2.   Students are expected to bring a pen/pencil, paper, and notebook with all class
       materials up-to-date to class everyday.
  3.  Because of the nature of equipment, there will be no drinks, candy, or other food by
     the computers.
  4.  Students are responsible for any misuse or abuse of computer equipment.
 

5.   If you are absent for ANY reason, please see me on the next class day to pickup
      missed assignments.

  6.   Please leave your work station clean of all waste materials and in an orderly fashion.
  7.   Treat instructors, visitors, and peers with respect.
  8.   Begin typing each period as soon as you come into the room.
  9.   Please DO NOT type or play with the computer when there is a class discussion or the instructor is explaining materials and giving instructions.
