Uniforms
We are very fortunate at Ted Polk
Middle School to have school-issued uniforms for our 7th and 8th grade
musicians. The directors firmly believe that having the students wear
formal concert uniforms creates a more "professional" performance environment --
in other words, orchestras that look good play great.
All 7th and 8th grade musician, regardless of orchestra, have the same uniform. They pay a $10 dry cleaning deposit at the beginning of the year. If the uniform is returned dry cleaned on the appropriate day at the end of the year, they will receive their deposit back in cash.
In order to keep our uniforms
wearable for the next 10-15 years - please:
- DO NOT machine wash any parts of the uniform that belong to the school.
DRY CLEAN ONLY.
- DO NOT alter in any way any hems or part of the uniform. We do
everything we can to find a uniform that fits appropriately. In the event
that something is too long, please PIN ONLY.
- DO return the uniform in May in the condition it was checked out to you
in. Any rips, tears, stains, alterations, or other damage will result in
the student being responsible for the full cost of a replacement (dresses are
$54, tux pants are $45, bow tie is $10, cummerbund is $15).
For the gentlemen, the uniform consists of:
- Black tux pants (school
issued)
- Green bow tie and cummerbund (school issued)
- white tux shirt (purchased at the beginning of the year)
- black socks and NICE, DRESSY black shoes (black tennis shoes are NOT
acceptable)
The tux shirt is yours to keep at the end of the
year.
For the ladies, the uniform consists of:
- Black dress (school
issued)
- NICE, DRESSY black shoes (all black, no colors please!)
For our 6th grade musicians, the uniform consists of:
- Orchestra polo shirt (the
one with the collar)
- Khaki colored pants, capris, or skirt
- NICE shoes (not flip flops or sneakers/tennis shoes of any kind)
