Some interesting
facts about Ms. Boemer My name is Amy Boemer and I am so excited to be teaching at Polk. I wanted to let you know a little bit about myself...I graduated in December 2006 from Oklahoma City University with my bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education. While I was at OCU, I played in the symphony orchestra and many of the pit orchestras for operas and musicals. I was also a member of my school's chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota which is a professional music fraternity. OCU was so much fun and I got to do a lot of interesting things with my orchestra, including a tour of China! I loved orchestra so much when I was in high school, and because of some really great teachers, I decided that I wanted to teach orchestra too. It's been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Everyday I will get to teach students about something I love. When I'm not teaching, I'm probably reading. I love reading! I also like to crochet, play chamber music, watch movies, and travel. Already I've visited France, Spain, Germany, and China, but I sill have a lot of countries I want to see! I went to New York in the spring of 2007. It was an amazing trip. I got to live out one of my personal dreams because I played a concert at Carnegie Hall!!! I've wanted to play there since I started violin in 5th grade. I grew up in the Carrollton area. I went to Blanton, Woodlake (Thompson), McKamy, Dan F. Long, and I graduated from R. L. Turner! I have two younger sisters named Allison and Ariel. They're lots of fun. My dad is a veterinarian and my mom works as his vet technician. We have three dogs, Emmy Lou, Wilma, and Hazel. |
