GIS (Geographical
Information Systems) Club
Begins in October.
Learn to use: ArcMap 9.2 GIS mapping software,
a GPS (Global Positioning System) handheld tracking
device, and the world-wide scavenger hunt game called Geocaching . This club
works on a community service project using this technology, attends
the GIS Day at Brookhaven College in November, and has FUN geocaching!

Student Council
Begins in September.
Take an active role in
making TPMS the best middle school in Texas! Student Council members serve
as assistants for school programs like the Sixth Grade Showcase and Open
House evenings, and are actively involved in planning Red Ribbon Week,
Spirit Week, and other activities that make TPMS a special school.

Readers, Inc.
Begins in (the end of) September.
Readers, Inc. gives
students the opportunity to share information about the books they love
through book chats, shelf adoptions and displays in the library and Power
point presentations.

Are you interested in
learning this game of strategy, or do your friends already think of you as a
chess master? Either way, the Chess Club needs you! Learn how to play,
practice new strategies, and compete against other middle schools during the

National Junior Honor
Society
This organization honors
students who have demonstrated leadership, service, and academic excellence.
Applications are accepted during the spring semester from students who meet
academic criteria. The Polk NJHS chapter provides other students with
academic help and performs service projects in the school and community.

Make Your Day
Advisory Panel
This group of students
helps monitor the success of our Make Your Day program and meets monthly
with our principal and teachers to discuss possible improvements to the
plan. These students are a powerful voice for the student body and directly
influence the development of our program. Students interested in
participating in this committee must be focused on creating a great school
and must be able to think and see possibilities from others’ points of
view.

This leadership team is
responsible for conservation efforts on our campus. Students lead our charge
to reduce, reuse, and recycle by monitoring electricity use and by
encouraging recycling of paper.
