SYLLABUS
Course
Description: This course is designed to
focus on personal development, interpersonal relationships, effective
individual and family functioning, and career preparation-all within a changing
society. This course addresses personal identity, responsibilities of living as
an independent adult, relationship development outside the family, and factors
related to marital success. Special attention is focused on understanding
roles, responsibilities, and impact of the family on individuals and society,
promoting and strengthening the family unit, the impact of technology on career
options and family life, and managing multiple family, community, and career
goals.

needed: spiral, notebook paper,
folder w/pockets and writing utensils
Minimum
Requirements:
1. Graded assignments, handout sheets, etc., should be kept in a
folder in an organized manner.
2. Each student must complete a career connections experience project related to course content.
Guidelines for completion of the project will be explained in class at a later
date.
3. All students must follow the published Newman Smith procedures
in regard to make-up work, Code of Ethics, etc.
4. All students must follow models set in the Class Stylebook.
Grading
System: 9 weeks grade: 60%=tests,
projects, etc.
40%=daily and homework assignments
(homework not to exceed more than
10%)
Parent
Notification: Students who are in danger of failing will
receive notification of current grade status every three weeks. Parents should anticipate these reports,
review them, and contact the teacher if there are any questions regarding the
grade.
