| We love celebrating
birthdays
in Kindergarten! I will send home a birthday book for
completion the week before the big day. It is a special project to be
done with family help and returned to school for sharing on the birthday.
If you have a summer birthday like me, don't worry. We will celebrate
these during the last week of school!
If your child celebrates a birthday during the school year, you are welcome to send only cupcakes or cookies for the class to enjoy during our snack time. Check our class roster to see how many students we have in our class. Please drop the goodies off in the office. Keep in mind that this is not a party, so we will not have time for drinks or any additional favors. |

Homework will be sent home most
Mondays and is
due back by the same Friday. In addition to what is sent home on Mondays,
your student will periodically bring home
Guided Reading
books. These are books that we study in a small group here at school.
The students and I discuss challenging parts and they read aloud while I listen
and provide support when
necessary.
Please take time to sit with your child and have them read these books to you. Make sure to complete the Reading Log for every book and return the books the next day. You will notice these books increasing with difficulty throughout the year as the students become better and better readers! |
| Also in your child's folder you will find our weekly reports which keep track of behavior and work habits. There is a place for your signature below each day of the week. Important school information is sent home in this folder as well as class work on Fridays. Please remove the class work each weekend and review it at home. |
| Kindergarten usually goes on two field trips a year. Last Fall we went to a pumpkin patch and in the Spring we visited the Fort Worth Zoo. If any parents would like to attend as a chaperone, you must complete a volunteer application including a background check. This takes several weeks to process, so please take care of this early in the year. I would love to have you come along for the fun! |
