Social Studies
Current Unit: Colonial America
This week in SS: We are beginning our Thirteen Colonies research. Students may have to finish tasks they didn't finish in class at home.
*Monday: I will distribute the research assignment. We'll discuss plagiarism and citing the textbook as a source.
*Tuesday: We will begin creating a bibliography. Students should be citing all sources used on index cards. We will discuss how to cite short books.
*Wednesday: We will discuss how to cite internet sources and use effective images in research.

Spelling
The spelling list should be distributed on Monday. Students should be studying 5-15 minutes per night by doing various word sorts, games and activities. The quiz will be on Friday.
Language Arts
Focus topic: We are studying using context clues to help determine new vocabulary in reading, determining main idea and discovering the author's purpose and point-of-view.
Focus genre: Non-fiction
Read 15 minutes each night from any genre. Try using the comprehension strategies we've practiced in class.
