Having Trouble Counting Rhythms Try Ms. Moore's new Pod Cast to help you out! The orchestra program at DeWitt Perry Middle School consists of students enrolled in beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. The CFB-ISD program is set up for students to begin study of the violin, viola, cello, and string bass in 6th grade, although students with previous experience can audition for higher orchestras. All orchestras perform in four concerts at the school each year. DeWitt Perry orchestra students also participate in Solo and Ensemble contest and are always represented in the Region XXIV All-Region Orchestra. The advanced orchestra enters the UIL Concert/Sight reading contest each year. The advanced orchestra also performs a holiday preview concert in November for the PTA. The Eagle Ensemble, a select group of students, goes on tour and performs for the feeder elementary schools in January as well as performing for the Awards Assemblies, and for additional community projects. Fun days include a trip to the Myerson to hear the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, a fall skating party and a trip to Nickelmania in the spring to celebrate all of the orchestras' outstanding work.
