COURSE INFORMATION

 

Technical Theatre I--

This class is an introduction to the basics of technical theatre. 

Students will explore:

  • Theatre Safety/Etiquette

  • Scenery/Scenic Art

  • Properties

  • Lighting

  • Sound

  • Costumes

  • Make Up

  • Stage Management

Students are required to attend a live theatre performance and complete a critique for each semester.

 

Students will also work on a crew and complete a minimum of 3 shop hours each 9 week grading period and work assigned productions. 

 

Theatre Arts I--

Theatre Arts I is a basic introductory course incorporating an introduction to the theatre, the role of the actor/actress in interpreting dramatic literature, performance theory and techniques, and an overview of technical elements utilized in theatrical productions.  Students will participate in groups or individual performances and complete technical assignments as assigned.  All students will be expected to attend one play or theatrical event each semester.

 

Supplies

*Students will need novels or plays to read throughout the school year.

Fall

  • Novels or plays of student’s choice

  • 2” or larger 3 ring binder w/zipper pouch to keep supplies

  • Metal Ruler

  • Box of Kleenex

  • Pens/Pencils

  • Scissors

  • Colored pencils

  • Package of sewing needles (spring semester)

  • 1 yard of Muslin or any type of “plain fabric”- no prints $1.00/yard or less (spring semester)

  • Thread (contrasting to the color of the chosen material) (spring semester)

Technical Theatre II--

This class is an in depth study of the elements of technical theatre. 

Students will explore:

  • Theatre Safety/Etiquette

  • Scenery/Scenic Art

  • Properties

  • Lighting

  • Sound

  • Costumes

  • Make Up

  • Stage Management

Students will also work on a crew and complete a minimum of 14 shop hours each 9 week grading period and work assigned productions.  Tech week and productions do not count towards shop hours.

 

Students are required to attend a live theatre performance outside of Creekview and complete a critique for each semester.

 

Technical Theatre III/IV--

Students will be assigned an area of specialization each semester from one of the following areas:. 

  • Scenery/Scenic Art

  • Properties

  • Lighting

  • Sound

  • Costumes/Make Up

  • Stage Management

Students will also work on a crew and complete a minimum of 20 shop hours each 9 week grading period and work assigned productions.  Tech week and productions do not count towards shop hours.

 

Students are required to attend a live theatre performance outside of Creekview and complete a critique for each semester.
