| Hi
Everybody!
Just to give you a little insight into how I was raised...I was raised
in a small town in the Panhandle of Texas called Hereford. You
guessed it...it is a cow
town.
Growing up there was great because there was no such thing as a
stranger. In fact, it wasn't until this past few years that Hereford
moved into the big leagues. We got a Wal-Mart! I loved
growing up there. It is only in small towns that you can march
in the band,
in
your cheerleading
skirt. How fun is that!
Staying
close to home, I attended West Texas A & M for two years.
Deciding that I was too close to home, I moved to the Dallas area and
attended The University of North Texas, majoring in Criminal Justice.
My lofty goals were to go into the Police Academy. Can you see
it now? .
Ms. Mason, Officer of the Law. Needless to say, the excitement
of Dallas was going straight to my brain. After two years, I
moved back to West Texas and completed my Degree in General Studies
with a teaching certificate in Elementary Education and Reading.
After graduation, I taught reading
for three
years at Hereford Middle School and worked as the Cheerleading
sponsor. I loved it. Something about those crazy teens
and I just fit. However, shortly after I began teaching, I
started working on my Master's in Counseling. Glutton for
punishment I guess.
At the end of my three years of teaching, I had finished my Master's
and got the bug to come back to Dallas.
I
applied to Carrollton-Farmer's Branch along with other districts.
It must have been fate because within a day or two after applying, I
received a call from Mrs. Coney.
I
took the job at Good Elementary and I am working on my 8th year here.
Along with Counseling, I also am the Director of Good's After the Bell
Academy. This is my 4th year as Director and my 8th year working
with the after school program.
In addition, I
serve on the PTA as the Membership Chairperson. Previously
served on the PTA Board as the Historian.
In my free time I enjoy
reading, spending time with friends, going to ball games, and
playing cards and board games.
Last, but certainly not least is my most important job. I have a
son named Christian. He is in the 6th grade and is my favorite
hobby, job, past time, and luxury. He is a ball of energy, but
he has a charisma about life and friends and all things that he loves.
He makes me laugh, makes me tired, and makes me thankful to be a mom.
