ALL ABOUT ME!
I am the oldest of three children. I moved a lot when I was a child as my dad was transferred from place to place. I was born in Illinois, and lived in Pennsylvania and Minnesota before we settled in New Jersey when I was in 6th grade. After high school I went to Northwestern University in Illinois. I graduated with a degree in elementary education and juvenile law and moved to Houston, Texas to begin my teaching career.
I taught 4th grade in Houston for three years. Then I decided to try something different. I moved to California and got a job selling computer software. I traveled a lot and over the next couple of years also lived in Cleveland, Ohio and Seattle, Washington. When Mr. Mango and I got married he was raising his two children P.J. and Melissa. We moved here to Dallas in 1984 and I went back to teaching. I taught for two years in Grapevine-Colleyville then was lucky enough to get a job teaching at Las Colinas Elementary when the school was brand new.
When Las Colinas Elementary first opened in the fall of 1986 we were VERY small. There were fewer than 100 kids in the whole school – kindergarten through 6th grade. We only had 5 classroom teachers! This year I will be celebrating 22 years at LCE! It’s been amazing to see all the changes as our school has grown. I love working at Las Colinas and can’t imagine any other place I’d ever want to be!
Just as Las Colinas grew, so did my family. Our two older children are grown. We have three grandkids, Reilly (age 7), Emma (age 5), and Halle (age 2). Our youngest daughter, Marci, is in her senior year at Schreiner University in Kerrville. My family and school keep me very busy…and happy!
