Math

Math in kindergarten sometimes looks a lot like playing. While children are exploring the manipulatives in our classrooms, they are learning about sorting, counting, patterning, graphing, addition and subtraction just to name a few.

We hope that by the end of kindergarten your student will be able to:

Count , Recognize and Write their numbers from 1 to 20
Count to 100 orally
Sort objects into logical groups, and explain how they are sorted
Understand, Create, and Extend patterns
Use positional words to place objects (over, under, behind, in front of, on, off, etc.)
Compare objects using language such as longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, holds more, less
Be able to draw a picture to solve a word problem
Know ordinal numbers (First, Second, Third, Fourth, all the way to Tenth)
Begin to understand the concept of addition, using manipulatives
Begin to understand the concept of subtraction, using maniupulatives
