What can I wear Monday morning?
We would like for everyone to wear their tie-dyed t-shirts.  However, this is not required.  You may wear whatever you like.  Please remember that we will be doing activities when we get to camp, so you should be dressed appropriately.  Dress according to the weather.  School uniforms are not required at camp.

What will I eat on Monday?
You need to bring a sack lunch with you on the bus.  Do not pack your sack lunch in your suitcase.  We will eat by Possum Kingdom Lake as soon as we get to camp.  Dinner will be served at the camp mess hall.

Camp Grady Spruce is about 2 hours west of Fort Worth in Mineral Wells, Texas.  Directions to camp will soon be added to this page.

What will happen if I get hurt at camp?
Every student is required to have a medical form completely filled out with medical history and insurance information before going to camp.  In the case of an emergency, we will take you to a hospital in Mineral Wells.  We will call your parents to let them know what is happening.

What are the cabins like?
The cabins are two stories.  There is one bathroom in each cabin with a private shower.  There is heating and air conditioning.  There are about 6 bunk beds in each cabin.  We like to have no more than 10 kids in each cabin.

How long is a typical day at camp?
Your day starts at 7:50 in the morning when we meet at the flagpole.  We then eat breakfast and our first activity is from 9:00-12:00.  We eat lunch at 12:00 and then have down time from 1:00-2:00.  Our second activity is from 2:00-5:00.  Downtime is from 5:00-6:00 and dinner is from 6:00-7:00.  Night-Life activities are from 7:00-9:00 and all students should be in bed by 10:00.

What is the food like at camp?
There is a wide selection at each meal.  For breakfast, students can always eat toast and cereal.  There will also be different main courses such as eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.  For lunch and dinner, students can always eat salads and peanut butter-jelly sandwiches.  There will always be a choice of a main course with meat and with out meat.

How much water should I drink each day?
At each meal there is a pitcher of water on your table.  The students must finish this pitcher before they may drink anything else.  If you do not drink a lot of water during your activities, you will become sick and dehydrated and have to stay in your cabin instead of going on your activities.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I bring medicine that I take at home?
Students are not allowed to have any medicine with them.  All medicine should be with the teachers.  Teachers can only give you medicine if you have a doctor's note.

What kind of shoes should I bring?
You should bring at least two pairs of tennis shoes, in case one pair gets wet.  Hiking boots are a good idea.  Sandals for the shower are also recommended.

Are there any wild animals at camp?
You will hopefully have a chance to see deer, coyotes, possums, and other wild creatures at camp.  They will not bother you as long as you don't bother them.  The reason you are not allowed to bring food to camp is because raccoons are very good at finding food  and will break into your cabin to eat a nice meal.

Will I get lost at camp?
You must have a buddy with you at all times.  You are not allowed to go anywhere on the camp grounds without a buddy.  The area we stay at is not that big and you will not get lost.

Will I be able to talk to my parents while at camp?
You will not be allowed to call your parents unless a teacher determines it is an emergency.  You will probably get homesick, but that is OK.  Your parents can write letters to you.  The address for camp will be on here soon.  Your parents should mail the letters a couple of days before we leave since it takes a while for them to get there.

Can my parents come to visit me at camp?
Your parents may come to camp at any time. They may stay for the entire day.  They may even spend the night for a small fee payable to Camp Grady Spruce.

When do I find out who I am in a cabin with?
Your teachers will tell you which cabin you are in about 15 minutes before we leave for camp.

What are the consequences for bad behavior at camp?
Hopefully no one will act inappropriately at camp.  If you do make a bad choice, you may have to stay in your cabin while everyone else goes on their activity.  In the case of extreme misbehavior, your parents will be called and asked to come pick you up and take you home.

What if I don't want to do an activity?
Every student is expected to participate in every activity.

How do I get something back that I lost at camp?

What can I take back home from camp?
You may take only pictures and leave only footprints.  In other words, do not take anything from the trails, including rocks, because that will make it less beautiful for the people who come after you.  Also, do not leave any trash on the ground.
