Instruments of Orchestra

The violin is the smallest member of the string family and it produces the highest sound. Violins can play sitting down or standing up and it is played on the violinist’s left shoulder-even if you are right handed!

The viola is slightly bigger than the violin and it makes a rich, warm sound that is lower in pitch. It is played on the violist’s left shoulder just like the violin.

The cello plays even lower sound than viola and it makes a rich, warm sound. It is played sitting down.

The bass is the orchestra’s foundation. They are the largest of all the string instruments, and play the lowest notes. At six feet or even more, it’s often taller than the person who plays it however; inside of bass is hollow so, it is light in weight.
